This restaurant is an excellent japanese eatery. The service is good, and the general feel of the place, but the food is the best thing by a mile. It is always fresh and very tasty. Have been about 4/5 times and each time the standards have been really high. Good value for what you get.

Brilliant place - the food is fresh and prepared excellently. It may not be the cheapest of places but it is such a good experience and the quality of the food is exceptional you don't mind paying a bit extra.

The toilets are a little strange - flourescent lights!! But the supermarket dowstairs offers a great range of products.

"If you love Japanese cuisine then New Samsi is the ideal place to visit in Manchester city centre. With some unbeatable daytime offers, it's the perfect place for a healthy lunchtime meal. With the Palace Theatre and Cornehouse cinema just along the road and, this being one of the closest restaurants near the Apollo Theatre, the pre-show offers are well worth checking out. There's a great choice of Japanese banquets available in the evening and the Saki wine list is impressive. The amazing Japanese supermarket in the basement is worth a visit alone and, like us, most diners tend to leave with a carrier bag full of ingredients after their meal."

"I came specifically for sushi, on a quiet Saturday lunchtime. The £15 platter featured 19 pieces, including squid, octopus, salmon and tuna. The rice on the nigiri could have done with being a touch stickier, but was well flavoured. More importantly, the fish on top was spankingly fresh. I was offered a second platter, all included in the price, but I was quite full by then."

"First thing to say is this place is amazing value for money, the size of the food is not for the faint hearted! Just under £10 for a Miso Soup, 4 random sushi pieces, then a Bento box with steak, deep fried veg and other delights. Portions that would satisfy anyone's hunger at a price for everone's budget. Also it's worth a venture downstairs for the authentic Japanese supermarket. I will be visiting, again and again I'm sure"

"I love eating at the Samsi, OK some might argue it isn't as authentic as it might be... but then what would I know, all I do know is that the food is excellent, fresh, appetising and the quantities could overface the hungriest diner. The service is polite and courteous, the choice wide and tempting, and all seems to be well prepared and fairly reasonably priced for city centre dining. I have a sushi fixation hence my regular attendance, (go at lunchtimes for the best bargain sushi meal ever...£15 for 'all you can eat') and their selection always has something new that I have never tried which is always welcome. My partner had the Beef Sukiyaki, after sharing a Sushi Platter and a Sashimi Platter and although the 'first course' was substantial, the Sukiyaki was tasty enough for him to manage finishing it! I had a lighter choice of the Chicken Yakitori and it came with rice and a lovely salad, which was very welcome and not too overfacing. I would, and have, recommended this restaurant to anyone who has a taste for sushi and Japanese food in general and I know several friends have been impressed, so much so that one had a birthday celebration meal with 8 friends and was amazed at the service, quality and size of the portions (Samurai Banquet). My only small niggle is that the tables are rather small if you have a lot of plates and bowls, along with glasses, it can feel a little cramped, but that is only because the range and selection is so tempting! There's a great 'supermarket' downstairs where you can buy items to make your own food too. Excellent. PS For the hygiene conscious the toilets are lit with black lights so you see just how clean they are."

This is a delicious Japanese restaurant. I am a lover of Japanese food and have eaten at many restaurants in England and Japan. This is definitely one of the best. The service and atmosphere are lovely and they have a great shop downstairs selling Japanese food products. Don't miss out on a great experience.

The sushi at Samsi is fantastic and their Sunday lunch set makes it good value. Others dishes on the menu are equally as good and are very authentic. Staff were attentive and well versed on the menu. There is also a great little Japanese supermarket downstairs.

The Sunday buffets are great value, and with a good choice of buffets to choose from. Service is leisurely but amiable. The restaurant is very child friendly - and the bento box for children is a perfect idea, with choice pieces of chicken, salad and rice along with fruit and marshmallows to dip in a chocolate sauce. An excellent place for a special family meal out.

Well deserving its reputation as the best Japanese in the north west, we found the sushi, the tempura and the shichimi chilli prawns to be outstanding. We read a review from another customer who said he could find better sushi elsewhere in town. We totally disagree (was this review written by the competitors marketing man or did he drink too much sake?)
Our waitress never stopped smiling and we had a lovely evening.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service and food are of top quality, and there is a downstairs, with sofas to relax on after your meal. Always my first choice when going out.

Has to be THE best japanese restaurant we've been to so far. Pity they've taken the 'do-it-yourself' sushi off the menu, as this was by far my favourite. Service is alway excellent and it's always a first choice for dining out in Manchester
